Peer-Review Process

At Analisis Sejarah, we are committed to maintaining the highest academic standards by implementing a rigorous and transparent peer-review process. Our peer review ensures that all submissions are evaluated thoroughly and fairly, promoting the publication of high-quality, original research.

  1. Initial Editorial Assessment
Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial review by the editorial team to assess its suitability for the journal’s focus and scope. During this stage, the manuscript is checked for proper formatting, adherence to citation and reference guidelines, and compliance with ethical standards. We also conduct a plagiarism check using Turnitin to ensure originality. The initial editorial review typically takes one to four weeks.

  2. Preliminary Revisions
If the manuscript does not meet the basic requirements for formatting or scope, the editor may request that the author make preliminary revisions before proceeding to peer review. These revisions help streamline the review process and ensure the manuscript is ready for in-depth evaluation.

  3. Double-Blind Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial review are assigned to at least one or two external expert reviewers for a double-blind peer review process. In this system, both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous to each other to ensure impartiality. The reviewers assess the manuscript based on its originality, methodology, scholarly contribution, and adherence to academic standards. This review typically takes up to four weeks.

  4. Review Outcomes
Based on the feedback from the reviewers, the editor will make one of the following decisions:

    • Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication without any further revisions.

    • Minor Revisions: The manuscript is accepted pending minor revisions that must be addressed before final acceptance.

    • Major Revisions: The manuscript requires substantial revisions before it can be reconsidered. The revised manuscript may undergo another round of review.

    • Re-submit: The manuscript may be resubmitted after significant revisions. This decision is typically made when the manuscript has potential but requires substantial improvement.

    • Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards for publication.

  5. Discrepancies Between Reviewers
If the two reviewers provide conflicting recommendations, the editor may assign a third reviewer. The decision of the third reviewer will be final and help resolve the disagreement.

  6. Revision and Resubmission
Authors are given a specified period to make the necessary revisions based on reviewer feedback. If revisions are not submitted within the required timeframe, the manuscript may be rejected. Once the revised manuscript is received, the editor will review the changes and may send it back to the original reviewers for further evaluation if needed.

  7. Final Decision
The final decision on whether to accept or reject a manuscript rests with the Managing Editor, based on the recommendations of the reviewers and the editorial board. Authors are notified of the final decision, typically within one to four months of the initial submission.

  8. Publication
Once a manuscript is accepted, it will proceed to the production stage, where it will be formatted and prepared for publication in an upcoming issue of the journal. Authors will receive proofs for final review before publication.

The editorial team is dedicated to maintaining open communication with authors throughout the review process, ensuring transparency at every stage. Our peer-review process ensures that only high-quality research that contributes to the historical field is published in Analisis Sejarah.
